Route and times: from the airports to Menaggio and Tremezzina

Tremezzina is the name of the small lakeside comune that gathers Tremezzo, Mezzegra, Ossuccio and Lenno along the western shore of Lake Como, and Menaggio sits just a few kilometres further north, where the lake opens towards the northern basin. From Milan the road distance is around 85 kilometres and the journey takes about one hour and a half outside peak traffic: a short trip on paper, but one that deserves a car with a driver, because the last stretch runs along the lake and the difference between a calm arrival and a rushed one is made by how well the timing is planned.
The route is straightforward. From Milan and from Malpensa you take the A8 and A9 motorways towards Como, exit at Como Nord or Como Ovest and follow the SS340 Regina, the historic lakeside road that touches Cernobbio, Moltrasio, Laglio, Colonno and Sala Comacina before reaching Lenno, Tremezzo and Menaggio. The motorway stretch is fast; the lakeside one is narrow, winding and busy in summer, especially between 10:00 and 12:00 and again between 17:00 and 19:00 on weekends. A good chauffeur service plans the departure with a margin and reads the traffic in real time, so the arrival time you are given at the booking stage is the time you actually get.
On board, comfort is part of the service: business sedans such as a Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5 Series or Audi A6, first-class saloons for those who want the top of the range, vans for families and groups of up to seven passengers and minibuses for larger parties. Wi-Fi, bottled water, USB sockets and climate control come as standard, so an hour and a half on the road becomes time to work or simply to watch the lake appear around each bend. The full specification of every class is on our fleet page.
The same service works in the opposite direction. For a departure from Menaggio or Tremezzina the driver calculates the pick-up time from your flight schedule and the expected traffic, arrives at your address with the right margin and takes you straight to the terminal. Outbound and return can be booked together, so the car is already programmed for the journey back and you travel with a single confirmation and a single fixed fare.
From Malpensa (MXP)
Malpensa is the most convenient airport for Lake Como: around 80 to 85 kilometres, covered in one hour 20 minutes to one hour 40 minutes along the A8 and A9, depending on traffic and on the exact village. Terminal 1 handles most domestic, European and intercontinental flights, while Terminal 2 serves the low-cost airlines: the meeting point is agreed at the time of booking and confirmed the day before, usually in the arrivals hall with a name sign, and the driver helps with the luggage all the way to the car.
Flight tracking is included in every airport transfer: if the aircraft lands late, the pick-up time moves with it and no extra cost is added. Waiting at the airport is already part of the fare. For late-evening arrivals this makes all the difference, because the lakeside road after dark is quiet and the journey to Menaggio or Lenno takes less time than the same trip in daylight.
From Linate, Orio al Serio and Milan
From Linate the distance is around 95 kilometres and the transfer takes about one hour 40 minutes to two hours, crossing Milan on the ring road or on the western tangenziale depending on the hour. From Orio al Serio, the Bergamo airport, allow two hours to two hours 15 minutes for roughly 110 kilometres: the A4 eastbound and the Milan ring road are the fastest combination, and the alternative through the Brianza roads is a good option on days when the motorway is congested.
From the centre of Milan, whether your hotel is in the historic centre, in Brera or near the central station, the trip to Menaggio and Tremezzina takes about an hour and a half. It is also the natural route for travellers already staying on the eastern shore or in the city of Como who want a day on the western lake without thinking about ferries and car parks: the car waits for you and takes you back when the day is over.
What to see in Menaggio and Tremezzina

This stretch of the western shore concentrates some of the most beautiful scenery on Lake Como in very little space. The mountains rise straight from the water, the villages follow one another along the lakefront, and the villas with their gardens open onto the lake as they have done for two centuries. In a single day it is realistic to visit a villa, walk through two villages and stop for lunch overlooking the water: the distances are short and a private car turns them into a relaxed itinerary rather than a logistics problem.
Menaggio is the natural base of the area. Its lakefront promenade is one of the most pleasant on the lake, with cafés, historic hotels and a small square that comes alive on market days. The town is also one of the ferry hubs of the central lake, with frequent connections to Bellagio and Varenna, which makes it perfect for those who want to mix a road itinerary with a boat crossing.
Tremezzina, in the strict sense, runs from Lenno to Mezzegra with the hamlets of Ossuccio and Tremezzo in between. Lenno has a lovely lakeside square and the small port of Campo from which boats leave for the island and the villas; Tremezzo climbs inland among olive trees and gardens; Mezzegra keeps the quiet character of the agricultural villages that once lived off silk and olive oil. Everything is reachable in a few minutes by car, and with a chauffeur at your disposal the day takes the shape you want.
The area is also the starting point for wider explorations. Bellagio is twenty minutes away by ferry or half an hour by road through the lake bends; Como is half an hour to the north; and for those who want to see the lake from above there are panoramic roads and walks that climb towards the mountains in under an hour. If you are planning several stops in one day, the chauffeur at your disposal formula is the one that fits best: a car and a driver reserved for you for a half or full day.
Villas and gardens: Villa del Balbianello and Villa Carlotta
Villa del Balbianello, at the tip of the Lavedo peninsula in Lenno, is the image most people carry home from Lake Como. Its terraced garden, the loggia facing the water and the views over the central basin have made it one of the most sought-after locations in Italy for weddings and film shoots. The villa is managed by FAI and can be reached on foot along the wooded path or by boat from the port of Campo; the gardens are open most of the year, with the floral peaks in spring and early summer.
Villa Carlotta in Tremezzo is the other essential stop: a neoclassical residence with an art collection that includes Canova and Hayez, and a botanical garden of about seven hectares that descends towards the lake through azaleas, rhododendrons, bamboo and old citrus greenhouses. In April and May the flowering is spectacular, while in autumn the garden takes on softer colours and the villa is pleasantly quiet. Both villas are within ten minutes of each other by car.
Villages, the island and walks
Isola Comacina, the only island on the lake, lies a short distance from the shore of Ossuccio and can be visited by boat in a couple of hours. Its Romanesque ruins tell the story of a medieval settlement that once rivalled Como itself, and the small restaurant that operates on the island keeps alive a hospitality tradition that is over a century old. Just inland, the Sacro Monte di Ossuccio is part of the UNESCO heritage of the Sacred Mountains of Piedmont and Lombardy: a devotional path of fourteen chapels climbing towards the sanctuary, with the lake always in view.
For those who like to walk, the Greenway del Lago di Como is a route of about ten kilometres from Colonno to Cadenabbia through Sala Comacina, Ossuccio, Lenno, Mezzegra and Tremezzo, flat enough to be done in a few hours and rich in villas, churches and lake views. In Menaggio the golf club founded in 1907 is one of the oldest in Italy, and the Val Sanagra valley offers cooler forest walks on the hottest days of summer.
Events, weddings and business travel on the lake

Lake Como is one of the most popular destinations in Europe for weddings and private celebrations, and the villas of Tremezzina and Menaggio are at the centre of this scene. Organising an event here means coordinating guests, timings and locations that are close to one another but connected by roads that do not forgive delays: a chauffeur service dedicated to the day keeps arrivals smooth and lets the hosts enjoy their own event.
The same logic applies to private trips and anniversaries. A weekend based in Menaggio, with dinners on the lake and visits to the villas, becomes much simpler when a car is reserved for the whole stay: no car parks to hunt for, no waiting for taxis in villages where they are scarce, and the freedom to stop whenever the view asks for it.
On the business side, the lake is a well-established destination for retreats, incentive travel and meetings in small format. Companies choose it precisely because it is close to Milan and its airports: a director can land at Malpensa in the afternoon and be at the dinner table on the lake by seven, without changing vehicle once. For multi-day programmes the car can remain at the group's disposal for the whole period.
Getting to the big trade fairs is easy too. Rho Fiera Milano is around an hour and a half away, and the same chauffeur service covers the outward journey in the morning and the return in the evening, with the times agreed in advance. If your trip includes a few days on the lake and then appointments in the city, the airport transfers and intercity routes can be organised as one single itinerary.
Weddings and private celebrations in the villas
For a wedding at Villa del Balbianello, Villa Carlotta or one of the private residences of Tremezzina, transport is one of the details guests remember: a clean, punctual fleet, drivers who know the access roads of each villa and a coordinator who follows the timings of the day. The service can cover the shuttle between hotels and ceremony, the transfers of the couple and the late-night returns, with vehicles chosen to match the number of guests and the style of the event.
Vans and minibuses are the practical choice for group movements, while first-class saloons are reserved for the couple or the guests of honour. Every vehicle is prepared before arrival and every route is checked in advance, so the only thing left to do on the day is to celebrate.
Business travel, fairs and multi-day stays
For work stays the priorities change: reliability on early-morning departures, discretion during journeys where calls and documents are handled on board, and an invoicing process that suits company administration. The fixed fare agreed at the time of booking keeps the budget predictable, and the travel report for each transfer is available for expense notes without discussions.
A typical programme combines two or three days on the lake with meetings in Milan or at the fairgrounds. The same driver follows the whole period, knows the timetables and the addresses, and the company deals with a single contact person for bookings, changes and invoicing.
How to book your transfer to Menaggio and Tremezzina

Booking takes a few minutes. You send the date, the time, the pick-up address and the destination, the number of passengers and pieces of luggage, and the flight number if the journey starts or ends at an airport. You receive a fixed fare with everything included and a confirmation with the driver's details, so there is nothing to add on the day of travel.
The fare is fixed and agreed in advance: what you read in the confirmation is what you pay, with no meter, no night surcharges appearing at the end of the journey and no extra cost if the flight is late. It is the transparency that distinguishes a premium service, and it applies to every class, from the business sedan to the minibus.
For itineraries that combine several stops in one day, or for stays of several days, the quotation is built on the programme: you tell us where you want to go and at what times, and we organise the vehicle and the driver accordingly. The same applies to weddings and events, where the plan is agreed with the organisers well before the date.
If plans change, the rules are clear. Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before the scheduled pick-up, and the booking contact can change the time or the address without penalties within the same window. It is the last piece of a service designed to remove every worry from the journey.
What the service includes
Every airport transfer includes flight tracking, meet & greet in the arrivals hall with a name sign, waiting time at no extra cost and help with the luggage from the terminal to the car. Child seats and booster seats are available on request, and the vehicle is climate-controlled and prepared before every journey.
Free cancellation applies up to 48 hours before the scheduled pick-up, and any advance payment is returned in full. Our booking team answers within ten minutes during service hours and confirms every change in writing, so you always have the current version of your journey at hand.
Vehicle classes and fixed fare
Four classes cover every need: business sedans for solo travellers and couples, first-class saloons for those who want the highest level of comfort, vans for families and groups of up to seven passengers and minibuses for larger parties. The capacity of each class in terms of passengers and luggage is published on the fleet page, and the booking form checks the compatibility before the request is sent.
The fares are fixed and per route, calculated on the distance and the class chosen, with supplements for extra stops or waiting declared at the time of booking. You can see the reference prices on our prices page, and for programmes that do not fit a standard route, such as a tour of several villages or a full day at your disposal, the quotation is prepared on the itinerary.
