San Siro private transfers: the stadium, the hippodrome and the district
San Siro is the west side of Milan: the stadium that hosts the great football matches and the biggest summer concerts, the historic hippodrome, the parks of Trenno and of the Cave and, a few minutes to the east, the towers of CityLife. Reaching it from Malpensa takes about forty-five to fifty-five minutes by chauffeur-driven car, thirty-five to forty-five from Linate and about an hour from Orio al Serio, with a fixed fare agreed at booking, flight tracking, meet & greet and included waiting. This guide gives you the real times from every point of arrival, what to see in the district, the event calendar and every tip for booking a private transfer without a hitch.

Routes and times: reaching San Siro

San Siro lies in the west of Milan, between the ring roads and the first belt of residential neighbourhoods, and takes its name from the stadium that has been the capital of Italian football since 1926. For anyone arriving by car it is one of the easiest destinations in the city: the motorway network leads to the district without crossing the centre, the streets are wide and the last kilometre is short. Wherever you are going, a chauffeur-driven car drops you at the exact address, from a hotel on Viale Certosa to a dinner near the stadium, with your luggage already taken care of.
The three Lombard airports connect to San Siro in very different times. Milan Malpensa (MXP) is around 45 kilometres away and the journey takes forty-five to fifty-five minutes on the A8 and A4 motorways or on the western ring road. Milan Linate (LIN) is closer as the crow flies, around 17 kilometres, but it lies on the opposite side of the city: allow thirty-five to forty-five minutes across Milan. Orio al Serio (BGY), the airport of Bergamo, is around 58 kilometres and a good hour of travel. In the rush hours, between 7:30 and 9:30 and between 17:30 and 19:30, add fifteen to twenty minutes to every estimate.
On event nights the district changes face. In the two hours before a match or a concert the streets around Piazzale Angelo Moratti fill up, some stretches are closed to traffic and the crossings take longer than at any other time of day. A good chauffeur service plans the departure with a margin and knows where the car can stop, so you arrive calm whatever the calendar says. The fare is fixed and agreed at booking: it does not change with traffic and it does not change on the evening of a derby.
From Malpensa, Linate and Orio al Serio
Malpensa has two terminals and the meeting point with the chauffeur is agreed at booking and confirmed the day before: at Terminal 1 the appointment is in the arrivals area with a personalised name sign, at Terminal 2 at the arrivals exit. With the flight number in hand, the service tracks your flight in real time: if the plane lands early or late the pick-up time is adjusted automatically and at no extra cost, and airport waiting is always included. From the terminal to San Siro allow forty-five to fifty-five minutes, and the fixed fares by class are published: 170 euro in business, 260 in first, 190 in executive van and 480 in minibus.
Linate is the fastest landing but the longest crossing: thirty-five to forty-five minutes through the city, with fixed fares starting at 110 euro in business, 170 in first, 120 in van and 360 in minibus. Orio al Serio, the low-cost hub of northern Italy, is about an hour away on the A4 and the ring road, with fixed fares of 180 euro in business, 270 in first, 200 in van and 500 in minibus. The formula never changes: meet & greet, luggage handled, fixed fare and a business, first, van or minibus car chosen for the number of travellers and their bags. All the details are on the airport transfers page and all the fares on the prices page.
From the centre and the stations
From the heart of the city San Siro is a short ride away: the Duomo is around 7 kilometres and twenty-five minutes, Milan Central Station 8 kilometres and twenty-five to thirty, Cadorna 5 kilometres and fifteen to twenty, Garibaldi 6 kilometres and twenty. A chauffeur waiting on the station concourse saves you the walk with suitcases across the square and the queue for a taxi at rush hour, and takes you straight to the door of your hotel or your seat in the stands.
The district is also the natural base for moving around the west of Lombardy: Rho Fiera Milano is 12 to 15 kilometres and twenty to twenty-five minutes along the A4, the lakes are about an hour away and CityLife is a five-minute ride. For a day that mixes appointments, a match and a dinner, the car at your disposal keeps the driver and the vehicle between one stop and the next, with waiting time included: the hourly rates are published on the prices page, and the chauffeur service page explains how the formula works.
What to see: the stadium, the hippodrome and CityLife

The stadium is the landmark of the district and one of the symbols of the city. Inaugurated in 1926 and raised to its present form with the third ring built for the 1990 World Cup, it holds over seventy-five thousand spectators and is the shared home of Inter and AC Milan. Even on a day without a match it deserves a visit: the stadium museum tells the story of the two clubs and of the great evenings of Italian football, and the guided tour takes you into the stands, the tunnels and the pitch-side areas.
The green side of San Siro is just as real. The Parco di Trenno and the Parco delle Cave are two of the largest parks in Milan, with running paths, open meadows and small lakes where the city forgets the traffic. A few minutes further on, the Boscoincittà urban forest offers quiet paths in every season. For those travelling with children or simply wanting an hour of air before an evening event, these are the right addresses, and with a private transfer you reach them without thinking about parking.
To the east, where the old fairgrounds stood, the CityLife district has changed the skyline of Milan: the Allianz Tower, the Generali Tower and the PwC Tower rise over a large park, a shopping district and some of the most sought-after addresses in the city. The CityLife and Porta Nuova guide describes the two business districts street by street; from San Siro the ride is five minutes, so you can sleep by the stadium and have dinner under the towers.
The stadium and the match nights
On a match night the stadium is the centre of the world: the red girders of the third ring light up over the district and tens of thousands of people walk towards Piazzale Angelo Moratti. The gates open about an hour and a half before kick-off and the security checks take their time, so the best plan is to arrive early, leave the car at the agreed point and enter calmly. A private transfer does exactly this: it drops you close to the entrance and disappears into the traffic, ready to come back when you need it.
After the final whistle the square fills in a few minutes and every ride is scarce. Having a car waiting at a point agreed in advance, with the chauffeur already aware of the event timetable, turns the most chaotic moment of the evening into a simple walk of a hundred metres. For families, for those going to the match with children or for anyone who wants to leave with dry shoes in the rain, it is the difference between an evening out and an ordeal.
The parks and the hippodrome
Between the stadium and the western edge of the city the parks follow one another: the Parco di Trenno with its wide meadows, the Parco delle Cave with its lakes and paths, and the Boscoincittà woodland. In spring and autumn these are the favourite running and walking routes of the neighbourhood, and on summer evenings they stay cool long after the asphalt has given up its heat.
The historic hippodrome of La Maura completes the picture: horse racing meetings on spring and autumn afternoons, an elegant and relaxed Milan that has little to do with the roar of the stadium and is only a few minutes away from it. An afternoon at the races followed by dinner in the centre is one of the classic Milanese evenings, and the chauffeur at your disposal takes you from one to the other without a thought for the clock.
Events and seasons: the match and concert calendar

San Siro lives on a calendar and the calendar decides everything. The football season runs from August to May, with league matches every other weekend, European nights during the week and the two derbies as the most awaited dates of the year. From June to July the stadium becomes the largest concert stage in Italy, with international tours filling the district for one evening at a time. In both cases the rule is the same: plan the transfer as soon as the tickets are in your hands.
On event nights the hotels around the stadium and along Viale Certosa fill up weeks in advance, the traffic thickens from the afternoon and the ordinary options become scarce. A private transfer with a fixed fare does not change with demand and the car is guaranteed on the date you choose: booking early costs nothing and keeps the whole evening predictable. Free cancellation up to 48 hours before the service means there is no reason to wait.
Beyond the stadium, the season of the city continues nearby. In April the Salone del Mobile fills Milan and the Rho Fiera guide explains how to reach the fairgrounds, which are twenty to twenty-five minutes from San Siro. In February and September it is Fashion Week, in December the lights of the centre, and in every season the events page collects the dates worth planning; across the city, the Sempione district is a ten-minute ride away. For agencies, brands and companies the business travel page describes multi-vehicle programmes with coordinated drivers and single invoicing.
Matches, derbies and the football season
The official calendars are published in the summer and the dates move for television well into the season, so it is worth confirming the kick-off time a few days before travelling. On ordinary match days the district is crossed in minutes; on European nights and above all on derby evenings the whole city is on the move and every estimate grows. The chauffeur plans the departure with a margin and follows the event timetable, so the only thing you decide is when to leave home.
Going to the match in a group is the classic case for the van and the minibus: seven passengers in the Executive Van, up to eight in the minibus, with room for flags, scarves and everything else. At booking the load is checked against the chosen class and a single contact person coordinates the movements of the whole group, from the hotel to the stadium and on to the dinner afterwards.
Concerts and summer evenings
In June and July the stadium hosts the great international tours and the district turns into an open-air festival for one evening at a time. The gates open early, the queues are long and the streets around the arena close in the hours before the show: arriving in a chauffeur-driven car means being dropped at the nearest point the event plan allows and entering calmly, without a parking space to hunt for at sunset.
After the concert the exodus of tens of thousands of people lasts about an hour. Those who have dinner booked in the centre, in the Navigli or under the towers of CityLife, are glad of a driver waiting at a point agreed in advance: the car is there when the last song ends, and the journey home is quiet. For the whole evening, the car at your disposal includes waiting time between one stop and the next, with the hourly rates published on the prices page.
Travel tips: getting around and booking

San Siro is well served by the underground: the M5 line stops at San Siro Stadio, right by the arena, and the M1 stops at Lotto, a few minutes away on foot. For a daytime visit without luggage the metro is fine; with suitcases, in the evening, in the rain or on an event night, a private transfer is quite simply the best way to arrive. Comfortable shoes make the difference for the stadium tour and the parks, and the car takes care of everything else.
Driving in the district needs local knowledge. The whole municipality of Milan is covered by Area B, with entry restrictions by vehicle class, and on event days the squares around the arena close to traffic in a way that changes from one match to the next. Licensed chauffeur vehicles travel in service on authorised routes and drop you at the exact address you gave at booking, while street parking around the stadium is scarce and reserved on the evenings that matter most.
Booking the transfer to San Siro takes a few minutes: departure point, destination, date and time, number of passengers and luggage. The system shows the fixed fare for the business, first, van and minibus classes and checks the load against the class you choose, so there is room for everyone and everything. Waiting at the airport is included, as is meet & greet with the name sign, and cancellation is free up to 48 hours before the service: three guarantees that let you book as soon as your tickets are confirmed.
Parking and traffic zones
On ordinary days the district is quiet and parking is findable; on match and concert evenings the parking areas around the arena fill up two hours before the event and the reserved areas grow street by street. Those who arrive by car spend the last half hour looking for a space; those who arrive in a chauffeur-driven car get out at the entrance and walk a hundred metres.
For the rest, the car travels in service on authorised routes and the passenger only has to think about where to get out. The chauffeur waits for you at the end of the event at a point agreed in advance, and if the evening continues with a dinner or a walk in the centre the same car and the same driver stay with you, at the time agreed with you.
How to book the transfer
Choose the vehicle class according to who is travelling and how much luggage: the business sedan suits one to three travellers with their cases, the First Class offers the widest rear comfort, the Executive Van carries up to seven passengers and the minibus up to eight. At booking the load is checked against the chosen class, and child seats and pet carriers are available on request: just say so when you book.
Then add your flight number and everything else is automatic: the service tracks the flight, adjusts the pick-up time in case of delay and sends you the chauffeur's contact details before departure. Payment is made securely and the fare does not change between booking and the journey. If your plans change, cancellation is free up to 48 hours before the service, and the contact page has every channel to ask for a tailor-made itinerary for the evening of the event.
How long does the transfer from the airports to San Siro take?
About forty-five to fifty-five minutes from Malpensa, thirty-five to forty-five from Linate and about an hour from Orio al Serio, in normal traffic. The chauffeur plans the departure with a margin and, in the case of a flight, follows it in real time, so you arrive on time even at peak hours.
Is the fare fixed even on match and concert nights?
Yes, it is fixed and agreed at the time of booking, for every class from business to minibus, and it does not change with traffic or with demand. It includes airport waiting, flight tracking and meet & greet with the name sign: what you see when you book is exactly what you pay.
Can the chauffeur drop me right at the stadium entrance?
Of course. The chauffeur takes you to the closest point the event traffic plan allows and helps you with your bags, so you walk to the entrance in a few minutes. At the end of the match the car waits for you at a point agreed in advance, ready for the way back.
What happens if my flight lands late?
Nothing to worry about. The service tracks your flight in real time and the pick-up time is adjusted automatically, at no extra cost. Waiting at the airport is included and the chauffeur waits for you in the terminal with the name sign until you arrive.
Which car should I choose for a group going to the match?
The Executive Van carries up to seven passengers with plenty of boot space and the minibus up to eight: perfect for families, friends and small groups with flags, scarves and everything else. At booking the load is checked against the chosen class, so you are sure there is room for everyone.
Can I book a chauffeur at my disposal for the whole evening?
Yes, the hourly service keeps the car and the chauffeur at your disposal between one stop and the next, with waiting time included. It is the ideal formula for a match or a concert followed by dinner in the centre, with hourly rates published on the prices page.
Can I cancel or modify my booking?
Yes, cancellation is free up to 48 hours before the service and changes of time or destination are handled by customer service without penalties. You can book as soon as your tickets are confirmed and keep full flexibility if your plans change.
